The allrites & ritestream Team Attends the Long-Awaited Cannes Film Festival 2022.

Cannes, we are back, baby!

After 2 years of “frustration” and a very sweaty July edition last year, the film industry is strolling back on the Croisette. Hollywood A-listers have polished their stilettos, Tom Cruise looks younger than his 30-something sidekicks! Even if the party scene is not as wild as in the good old years, deals are being signed in the majestic suites with a breath-taking view or on the lovely Loulou restaurant on the rooftop of the Marriott.

Nathalie Morley, our Chief Content Officer and a former Chief Creative Officer at Fashion TV (1997–2009), who has been attending the Cannes Film Festival for many years running and seen its evolvements, gave us some insight on the festival atmosphere and vibe in 2022!

According to Nathalie, the Film Market has regained some strength and has embraced all the latest newest trends. Exploring VR and sensory experiences had started even before the Covid Era, but this year it has been presented and highlighted at the center stage at the beginning of the market. Huge focus has been put on streaming platform trends and the new digital age. These are the new Studios, the most chased after commissioners for aspiring and confirmed filmmakers. Asian and European production are being honoured.

As usual, the festival is showing good ethos, and as President Zelensky hoped during the opening ceremony, “In our time, Cinema will not be silent”.

“It feels good to be here, helping to connect the dots, buying, and selling movies for and to the world and the metaverse,” Nathalie said. That’s right, the metaverse! allrites accepts & licenses content in any language, genre, format, year of production and the licensing options are endless: SVOD, AVOD, Linear digital & FAST Channels, Connected Television, Cable, Over-the-Air, and now with the creation of ritestream, a revolutionary film platform powered by a blockchain technology, also for the Metaverse.
