Peacock offers new home to ‘Mr Mercedes’

NBCUniversal-owned streamer Peacock has given a new home to Mr Mercedes, the crime series based on the novels of Stephen King, whose future was looking uncertain following the closure of its original AT&T-owned broadcaster Audience Network earlier this year.

Seasons one and two will land on Peacock on 15 October, with the third season to follow at a later date.

The series, which was created and showrun by David E Kelley, is produced by Temple Hill Entertainment along with Sonar Entertainment.

Kelley also serves as EP and co-writer, alongside King himself, while Jack Bender directs and is also attached as an EP.

The show is an adaptation of King’s Bill Hodges trilogy – Mr Mercedes, Finders Keeper and End Of Watch – which pits retired police detective Hodges (Brendan Gleeson) against twisted serial killer Brady Hartsfield (Harry Treadaway).

It also stars Kelly Lynch, Jharrel Jerome, Mary-Louise Parker, Holland Taylor and Justine Lupe.

Nothing has yet been announced about a potential fourth season for the show.

King is better known as a writer of horror fiction than crime thrillers and a number of series are currently airing our upcoming based upon his works, including The Stand for CBS All Access, Lisey’s Story for Apple TV+ and The Eyes Of The Dragon for Hulu.
