Apple TV+ preps Oprah Winfrey remote interview show exploring racism

Apple’s Tim Cook & Oprah Winfrey

Oprah Winfrey is launching a new interview series on Apple TV+, which will debut in just two days time.

The Oprah Conversation will land on the streaming service Thursday, 30 July and “explore impactful and relevant topics” as Winfrey holds discussions with thought leaders and newsmakers from around the world. The series is being filmed remotely but will incorporate audience engagement.

Oprah struck a first-look deal with Apple in 2018 and The Oprah Conversation will be the third show she has set for the service, alongside Oprah Talks Covid-19 and Oprah’s Book Club.

The first instalment in the new series is titled How To Be An Antiracist and will see Winfrey and professor Ibram X Kendi talk to white readers who confront their own racist beliefs.

The series will continue with a two-part interview with athlete, commentator and activist Emmanuel Acho, who will speak to the veteran talkshow host about his web series, Uncomfortable Conversations With A Black Man, and take questions from white viewers.

Later in the series, Winfrey will also be joined by Equal Justice Initiative founder and best-selling author Bryan Stevenson.
