Amazon Prime Video picks up fact-based Chilean thriller ‘Dignity’ for Latin America

Amazon Prime Video in Latin America has acquired Chilean thriller Dignity, to premiere this coming Friday at the same time as on co-commissioning broadcaster MEGA in Chile.

The 8 x 52-part series, which was ordered by MEGA alongside Germany’s Joyn, is produced by Chilean TV and film production company Invercine & Wood and German producer Story House Pictures, in co-production with the Chilean television fund CNTV and MEGA.

The series was Joyn’s first ever original commission.

Dignity is based on the true story of a young prosecutor who sets out to bring a former Nazi soldier to justice, after he establishes a strange cult named Colonia Dignidad in Chile, with the series shot on location at the cult’s former enclave.

The show has already been licensed to territories including Spain, Portugal, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary through HBO Nordic.

It has been created by Invercine & Wood’s María Elena Wood and Patricio Pereira, with Story House Pictures’ Andreas Gutzeit attached as head writer. Julio Jorquera and Nancy Rivas directed the series, which stars Götz Otto, Devid Striesow and Marcel Rodriguez.

Tim Gerhartz, SVP global sales at Red Arrow Studios International, which holds worldwide distribution rights, said: “Dignity has a captivating and emotionally-charged narrative which has generated a great response from broadcasters and viewers internationally.

“We’re thrilled that viewers in Latin America will soon be able to immerse themselves in this authentic and exceptionally executed series which gives audiences the chance to learn more about this haunting part of history.”
